Okay so I've decided that we're going to be generally lenient in terms of fighting rules. Here on Justice City we will host our own fighting rules, however, if you disagree with those rules, so long as you and your opponent agree the ruleset selected, you are free to use those. Now, concerning our rules, you can find those below.
[ INSERT OMICRON'S RULES HERE]
Alrighty! So ya'll know about combat role-play, correct? then you know it needs rules, as does everything for logical reasoning and matters. So I come to you today with a ruleset that I'm going to specifically write out for this place. I except everyone who steps within combat boundaries to read and respect these rules, because I'm taking MY time to write them for YOUR enjoyment.
Minor Rule(s)
1. Must have a sheet.
2. Anything that is not included on sheet cannot be used in battle, because by then you're pulling daises from your ass.
Honor Code
1. Honor is a must obviously, show honor in each battle.
2. Shake hands [ yes ] Before and after fight.
3. If you lose a fight, do not be mad over it, instead learn from it and grow. If we catch you disrespecting your opponent because they won, you're going to be in big trouble.
4. Respect is a must here, no disrespect, a little bit of hype shit talk is acceptable, but nothing major please.
[ FIGHTING RULES by X ]
Rule 0: Any and all below defined rules that mandate any restrictions on actions do not apply during an introductory post so long as they remain purely superficial or aesthetic in nature. This applies only so long as the listed actions do not potentially directly affect the fight in a way that cannot also be achieved through use of other actions that are not against the rules. In short, this protects people from being dicked over for RULE OF COOL intros that don't actually hurt anything.
Rule 1: No Godmod. No metagaming, reality bending, character control, invulnerability, lightspeed, autohit, etc. etc. etc. If you really need all this stuff spelled out for you, then you shouldn't be here.
Rule 2: No use of OP character abilities. This is subjective and will be determined on a case by case basis. In general if you are leveling entire city blocks in the blink of an eye without issue or tanking massive amounts of damage with no actual consequences then like above you need to leave.
Rule 3: No post size limit. Be as descriptive as you need to be in your postings. This in mind please refrain from dropping enormous amounts of irrelevant information into your posts or being overly repetitive in the retelling of actions if possible.
Rule 4: There is no restricted time limit to when you have to post. However, do understand that we all aim to post in a timely manner. We ask that you respect that fact and get your posts in as soon as possible. If it's been say a week or so, your posts will come into question. If an extension is needed an extension is granted. Should the fighters want to set a time limit in a fight, they are free to do so as well. Complete freedom for the combatants of the fight.
Rule 5: No numerical speeds or other numeric values aside from physical constants. To put it simply, this rule prevents someone from saying "I charge at you at 50mph" because the opponent would respond with "I go 51mph lel" and the climb for speed would never end. Things such as "I shot x amount of bullets" are allowed due to them being physical constants. Get it? Got it? Good.
Rule 6: No teleporting. If you or a force under your control does not go from point A to point B without traveling the distance between in its entirety in a speed that is not considered OP then its counted under this rule. Exceptions can be made for the purpose of summoning weapons/allies/etc.
Rule 6.5: No Intangibility: Basically, this puts a solid NO on anyone who attempts to use intangibility in their fights. Intangibility is basically when lolspookyghosties try and make themselves transparent or say that due to them being lolspookiesghosties no physical weapons/items/energies/etc; can actually come into contact with it. Well do you know what we say to that?...NO! NEXT RULE!
Rule 7: No bunnying. You are allowed one attack per turn, and that is all. Actions that transpire as a result of that attack are, of course, perfectly fine, and your one attack may consist of multiple offensive actions so long as they do not cause a "barraging" effect like seen in a chain of separate attacks. This is to prevent continuity breaks that lead to confusion when a chain of actions is interrupted
Rule 8: No retro-active prevention of your opponent's actions via your own AKA no time-lining. As long as your opponent's sum totaled actions take place in a time-frame that is not obviously stretched beyond the normal capacity of a fight post you may not 'interrupt' them in your own post in a way that would cause them not to happen. In short, unless your opponent does so much stuff (in sequence, not simultaneously) in a time-frame that there is no feasible way your character could not(and should not) stop them don't even try. [Example, monologue-ing, incredibly extensive prep, repeatedly relocating acting then relocating, and extensive exposition.]
Rule 9: Player derived NPC limit at <number here>. NPC are treated as full characters in regards to being hit and receiving damage but their power must be relative to the controllers character in terms of balance to be treated as full characters for this purpose, otherwise they may be autohit and damage assigned as if they were environmental NPC. This will be discussed and agreed upon when relevant. (Was highly debated should talk over more)
Rule 10: First post goes to <NAME HERE>, who will set the stage in his/her post. They may be asked to repost if their setting is found to be biased inherently towards themselves and their talents as a combatant or if they have taken steps to make the arena inhospitable to an unfair extreme prior to the opponent's actual IC arrival. Refusal to repost in such a situation will be treated as a forfeit. Second poster has full rights of attack in their post. For clarification this means person 1 posts the area/landscape Person 2 then can come in and attack. (Their was debate on Judge setting the scene for battles if both contestants agreed)
Rule 11: As this is a universal fantasy/sci-fi RP, science can be bent, but not to bullshit capacities. Remember, this IS Earth, or at least functions under the same laws and basic environmental principles. This means your setting can NOT be mandatorally detrimental to anything that could survive on earth in a non extreme environment.
Rule 12: Locked Fight, no entrance from an outside party, at all. -OR- Additional fighters may intervene at the consent of the already existing participants.
Rule 13: Any information not on your character sheet at the time the match starts or not stated in your introduction post is completely invalidated, and cannot be used within the confines of the battle itself. You aren't allowed to make up abilities as you go along, don't even try. Being caught doing so will result in instant disqualification. ( What is requested to be added: If you wish to make changes SMALL CHANGES you must pm your opponent and ask for permission first. You must also run these changes by them so that they can see that the changes are not having a major impact on your fight.)
Rule 15: A judge has the right to dismiss any claims made should they find that the actual issue at hand does not in any real way affect the match itself. This applies both to inconsequential details that don't actually affect combat in any way being used as a point of contention AND cases where the involved action is being disputed due to an aesthetic process rather than its actual effects or outcomes which would be found to be perfectly acceptable if done by another process. In short Don't nitpick.
Rule 16: You not only reserve the right to have a post explained to you by your opponent in laymen's terms and to have any and all questions answered but may request a pause in the match room for until such concerns are addressed. Refusal to answer questions asked by an opponent about your post or abilities, within reason, will be treated as a forfeit. A judge has the right to waive this privilege if they find it to be used for the purposes of stalling, but only after initial questions have been addressed.
Rule 17: Before a match begins both combatants WILL (replacing Should in serious fights) mutually agree upon a single judge who is ideally not directly affiliated with either party to resolve these issues. Judging decisions must, and I mean MUST, be made with both parties having been able to speak with the judge and have their concerns addressed prior to the judgement. Once a judge call is made it is final.
Rule 18: Mock-Deathmatch, loser is declared when one combatant is dead or otherwise incapacitated, however that may take place. Alternatively, if you'd like to engage in a Deathmatch both combatants must agree upon it as well as have the judge officially agree upon it as well.
